"Drug and alcohol awareness program delivered by 'Lives Lived well - CHLY program"

About: Coomera Healthy Living for Youth

(as a service user),

As a secondary school we continually seek ways in which to be proactive regarding student wellbeing. CHLY utilise a 'harm minimisation' approach to drugs and alcohol which has been found to be the most effective approach to minimise risk. Through using an educational approach to minimise risk rather than students being told not to do something, we found that the students fully engaged within the experience. The presenter Tracey was dynamic and the children appeared to listen to every word. Rather than this being another adult lecturing students, Tracey was able to deliver hard hitting facts in a student friendly way. I think we all learnt new facts this week!

Hard hitting and brilliant, thank you Tracey and CHLY.

Hello Guidance Officer,

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and feedback. We are glad the harm minimisation message resonates with your experience. If telling people not to do things could be harmful to them worked, prevention of heath issues would be simple. Reaching and connecting with your people is a key priority for us at LLW and it is nice to hear that the students found it meaningful.
