"My experience"

About: Royal Perth Hospital / Trauma & Reconstructive & Plastic Surgery Services

(as the patient),

I was recently admitted to the trauma unit and would like to say that the care I received from the nurses was second to none (outstanding). But what let down the whole experience was on discharge day. I believe it was very badly organized. I felt I was  basically kicked out of my bed at 8.30am, to be escorted to the department lounge where nobody knew how to turn the TV on or asked if I needed a drink or food. The release papers were not signed or medicine given to me till 3.30 pm, with still 2 fractured ribs and a lacerated kidney, it was very uncomfortable.

Thank God the nursing care was excellent.

Dear Disappointing discharge,

Thank you for taking the time to write such balanced feedback. It was nice to see that the care you received from the clinical team left with such a positive impression and it was equally depressing to hear that there was an element of your care that really resulted in you feeling we had let you down.

An informed discharge process has been a recurrent challenge for us, and as a consequence we currently have a structured program of work to improve our patient experience.

Best wishes
