"Much loved member of our community."

About: Kalbarri Health Centre

(as a friend),

One of our Kalbarri locals is a much loved member of the community. He has no family other than his Kalbarri friends. He has terminal cancer and is able to be cared for in his final days in his beloved Kalbarri, only because the Health Centre is able to accommodate and care for him.

This allows our friend to die with dignity and in some way on his terms and not amongst strangers in Geraldton or Perth. The nurses and staff have gone above and beyond their duty to ensure our much loved friend is comfortable and at least let him know he is home.

I cannot communicate how appreciated this is. The lovely area that our friend gets to gaze out to and listen to the birds and watch the lizards play, is just lovely for him in his final days. What a lovely area.

I hope the Medical Centre can continue to operate in this way for many years to come. It really means a lot to simple country folk to be able to die amongst their friends.

Thank you.

Dear Kalbarri friend

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your friends story on Patient Opinion. I was so saddened to hear of your friends illness and I was moved that you took the time to share your lovely feedback in what must be a very difficult time for you. The team at the Kalbarri Health Centre do a wonderful job and provide a compassionate caring service to the Kalbarri community. It is so important to be around people that mean the most to you at life’s end.

I will take great pride in passing on your appreciation to the team.

Take care and I wish you all the very best.

Michele
