"Great care and a positive experience"

About: Sydney / Sydney Eye Hospital / 2 West & Hand Clinic

(as a parent/guardian),

Recently I attended the ED at Sydney  Sydney Eye Hospital with my child who had a sporting injury. I was so impressed with how we were treated and the compassion showed to my child who was obviously upset about their injury. What stood out to me was the way the team interacted with each other and how calm and considerate they were to each other. It was lovely to see the triage nurse interacting with every patient in a personable way, you were definitely made to feel safe..

On another note a recent visit to the hand clinic proved to be just as positive. For such a busy service in high demand everything just flowed and you could see how patients were moved through the service to receive everything they needed.

A big thank you to Sarah in hand therapy for her very personable approach and for making my child feel at ease with the whole thing .

Response from Jennie Barry, General Manager, Prince of Wales/Sydney/Sydney Eye Hospital

Dear ED to hand clinic – what great services,

Thank you very much for taking the time to give such outstanding feedback about both the Sydney Hospital/Sydney Eye Hospital Emergency Department and the Sydney Hospital Hand Clinic.

I am so pleased to hear that what would have been a frightening experience for your child was made easier by the triage nurse and other ED staff’s compassion throughout your stay. I am also happy to hear that your positive experience continued once discharged to the Hand Clinic, and that you felt the service was efficient and thorough.

Your story has been forwarded to both Nurse Unit Managers and the Head of Hand Therapy for their distribution to staff. Once again thank you for providing us with such valuable feedback. I hope your child's injury is on the road to recovery.

Kind regards,

Jennie Barry.
