"Care given when attending the Urgent Care Centre"

About: Beechworth Health Service Acute Unit

(as a parent/guardian),

It was a terrific experience.

My teenager developed a swollen red foot which they brought to my attention in the evening one weekend. I knew from previous experience that taking my teenager to the ED at the larger hospital would mean a wait of hours and hours.  There is always a doctor on call at Beechworth Health Service, and even though there is a fee it is worth paying to avoid the waiting. Once we presented to the urgent care centre the nurses were very caring toward my teenager and professional in their approach. The doctor was called and arrived within 15 minutes! He prescribed some antibiotics and we were on our way within half an hour. You don’t get that type of prompt service even if you have a pre-arranged appointment with your normal GP. Thank you Beechworth Health Service and Beechworth Surgery.

Thank you Sheeb95 for your feedback. We are very pleased that your teenager's care needs were able to be met promptly and locally. We are very pleased that Beechworth Health Service (BHS), in conjunction with our GP colleagues, is able to offer an Urgent Care Service to our community. Rest assured, that if any care needs to be escalated to an Emergency Department, BHS has close working relationships with both NHW (Northeast Health Wangaratta) and AWH (Albury Wodonga Health) Emergency Departments. This includes care advice and telehealth support.

Kind Regards,

Mark Ashcroft
