"An ambulance ride to ED"

About: Geraldton Hospital / Emergency Department Healthdirect Australia

(as the patient),

I called health direct, I was scared about what my health condition meant. The lady said she’d organise an ambulance and asked me if that was ok. It was good to be asked.

My condition didn’t seem life threatening so I was advised to hang up & rest until the ambulance came, but to call if my symptoms got worse.

The ambulance guys were pleasant & respectful & reassuring.

When I arrived at hospital I was made comfortable & despite feeling silly about why I was there, I was reassured that I’d done the right thing and was in the right place.

Dear pictoreb83

Thank you for sharing your lovely comments about your experience with our service. The team at the Geraldton Hospital Emergency Department strive to provide high quality, compassionate, professional health care and it is very uplifting to know we helped make a stressful experience a little less so. I thought I would share with you that the Geraldton Hospital was recently awarded the most outstanding regional hospital in Australia based on feedback just like yours. I will take great pride and delight in passing on your lovely compliment and acknowledgement to our very committed frontline staff.

WA Country Health Service works in partnership with a number of organisations including St John Ambulance to provide healthcare to our community. The partnership between health services and health transport providers is an integral component of rural health care. I will ensure your kind words are passed on to the St John Ambulance team involved in your care.

Thanks again for taking the time to write, it is always great to hear when we do something well. I hope you are well and truly on the mend.

Best wishes

Michele
