I was taken to triage and then straight into an emergency bay. I spoke to a doctor who then gave me pain relief. I thought my appendix was going to burst because I had extreme abdominal pain. The doctor spoke to me about my symptoms and indicated that it was probably ovarian cyst, so they organised an ultra-sound. This all seemed to happen pretty quickly, probably within an hour or so.
When I was taken back to emergency the doctor told me it was cyst. It was a little complicated so another doctor was called in. When they appeared they told me that they knew of another surgeon who would be best to do the operation. The surgeon would know about this procedure, and the doctor was going to try and get them to perform the operation.
The doctor indicated that theatre would probably be later in the evening. However it was much quicker as I was admitted an hour and a half earlier.
The cancer doctor spoke to me before the operation and said they felt that all should be OK, but couldn't guarantee it. They also said that there would be a high chance that I could lose my ovary and tube.
The operation seemed to go well, and my husband received a detailed phone call from the surgeon that evening that was reassuring.
Overall the service was efficient, A-class and I was satisfied my care and the outcome. I felt that everyone was lovely, and thorough.
