"As sick as I felt, I felt important"

About: The Townsville Hospital

(as the patient),

Recently I was a patient on Medical 3 or AUU I think it was called. I have been admitted a number of times to different wards and this was by far the best.

I was treated with so much care and dignity.

The nurses I met were so happy, the managers I came across were visibly supporting their staff and helping them, one lady took time out of her day to even talk to us even though we could see she was very busy. I spoke to a couple of staff and said they were so lucky to have 2 managers who showed them respect, this was evident in their work, they wanted to be there and not just to be paid.

The staff I met were so calm even when they were we could see they were very busy.

As sick as I felt, I felt important.

I hear so much negative and felt compelled to let you know my positive experience.

Thank you to all Medical 3.

Dear PONOV03,

Thank you so much for sharing your feedback with us, it is wonderful to hear such positive stories about patient’s experiences at our hospital.

Our staff work very hard and do their very best to provide comfort and relief to all their patients and knowing that even though you felt so sick, our staff made you feel important is simply wonderful.

Your story points out how important it is to have such a great team that is well supported so they are able to provide care in a dignified and calm manner. I will have great delight in providing your feedback to the staff of Medical 3 and I will ensure their senior nursing directors are included!

I wish you all the very best for the future PONOV03, take care of yourself,

With warm regards,

Julie Shepherd
