"Seemed to be waiting in an empty waiting room."

About: Geraldton Hospital

(as the patient),

I went into triage to get some pain relief, the waiting room was empty, no ambulance, the lady at the counter wasn't very friendly, acted as if she didnt want to be at her job, which is understandable, but anyways I went through the routine wait wait wait, then I got up and left after an hour or so, I know it's not a life or death situation but if you have ever had a cyst you would know the constant pain you're in from it, the point I'm getting at is how hard is it to take a 5 minute examination and then provide pain releif, instead of being treated like your wasting their time, if I could get pain releif elsewhere legally I would have but that isn't the case.

Dear Wait, wait, wait

Thank you for sharing your story on Patient Opinion. I am sorry that your interaction with our service has left you feeling disappointed, I realise just how frustrating waiting can be especially when you are in pain. I know that the Emergency Department can be quite busy behind the scenes and patients may be required to wait.

I can assure you that we are listening, we have made a number of improvements to the Geraldton Hospital Emergency department based on feedback like yours. Your story is indeed heard.

It is difficult to provide comment about your particular case without further details so if you would like me to arrange a further follow-up and review of your experience, please feel free to email me at michele.young@health.wa.gov.au and I will be happy to do that.

Please be reassured that we are committed to improving the experience of all patients using our health service.

Thanks for taking the time to write and share your story.

Kind regards

Michele Young
