"My first class experience at Three Springs Hospital"

About: Geraldton Hospital GPs in the Durack Electoral District North Midlands Health Service

(as the patient),

Recently, I went to a GP complaining of a pain that was increasing in severity radiating from my right side back towards the front centre. The doctor suggested it was muscular, take a couple of Panadol and come back Friday. The doctor did this without taking any vital observations like BP, temperature, etc.

Later that night the pain become unbearable so I headed for the local hospital. The nurse on duty took me into the casualty area and carried out all required observations, she then suggested we contact Perth via a video link and discuss her observations with the doctor on the Perth end video link. They indicated that I may have a possible kidney stone, the nursing staff at the Three Springs Hospital cared for me overnight and medicated me with drugs that relieved the pain on the doctor's advice until I was evacuated to Geraldton Regional Hospital. I would like to state that the care received at the Three Springs Hospital was in fact first class and I wish to thank all at the hospital for their professional approach to patient well being.

Dear first class care

Thank you for sharing your health care experience on Patient Opinion. We appreciate you taking the time to write about the care you received at Three Springs Hospital (North Midlands Health Service). It was wonderful to hear such positive comments as our nurses strive to provide quality patient centred care. I will take great pleasure in providing this feedback to the team.

The video link that you mentioned is a wonderful service called the Emergency Telehealth Service (ETS). The ETS uses videoconferencing equipment to connect local clinical staff with emergency medicine specialists based in Perth who provide guidance to the local treating team. A consultation with an ETS doctor is just like any other ‘in person’ consultation and allows us to provide high quality specialist care close to home.

Thanks again for your feedback and I hope you are well on the road to recovery.

Kind regards

Michele
