"Wait times"

About: Sydney / Sydney Eye Hospital / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

I had very severe pain in my right eye. All the vessels could be seen and the entire eye was red. I was waiting 3 hours and was told by the person at the counter that my name was not even registered for a doctor. They go and explain the people with an emergency are treated first. I was sitting there with the pain in my eye and saw another patient who looked perfectly fine. They go in and see the nurse and a doctor calls for them straight after. I stood up and spoke to the person at the counter that my eye was in pain and received the same response. The nurse considered my situation not urgent. Soon after the same patient that walked in was finished and I was still waiting another 45 minutes. No one called me in and no one came out to see me. The throbbing pain in my right eye was causing my eye to constantly tear. Seriously, that nurse needs to be reconsidered. I'm just so angry I can't say anything further. The people at the counter were not helpful at all.
