"The care of my spouse in emergency departments"

On few occasions I had to present my spouse to a WACHS emergency department.  My spouse had surgery in Subiaco St Johns. The operation was for removal of right  acoustic neuroma.  Unfortunately, my spouse had many post op complications, but was eventually discharged.  

On arrival home my spouses clips were removed as ordered by the doctor. On the second day home, my spouse had swelling and leaking from the right nostril, leg weakness, massive headaches, nausea and vomiting.  Also fluid running down back of throat.

The next morning my spouse was worse again. I took my spouse to emergency department Bunbury. I could not get hold of the surgeon. Bunbury gave my spouse tablets, talked to the surgeon where he was discharged and I had to drive my spouse to Perth the next day. My spouse saw the doctor following an MRI which showed a massive leak of cerebral fluid. Which we were told poured when my spouse was opened up. They were then in hospital another 8 days. Once again discharged.

On return home again, clips removed and swelling occurred, headaches ramped up again. I presented to ED Busselton again with my spouse. We were sent home hoping it would resolve. This time, no leaking from nose. We stayed home for a couple of weeks, until my spouse was readmitted for another 10 days. They found another leak, but this time my spouse had suffered enormous pain, vomiting and was quite sick by the time they got into hospital. My spouse has only 1 kidney and lost half their large bowel.

In my opinion, my spouse should have been transferred to charlies (Sir Charles Gairdner) or admitted for drips and pain killers. I am very disappointed with the care and felt no one believed what I said. I feel there is a huge gap between private and public care.
