"Care of elderly patient"

About: Wyalkatchem Koorda Hospital (Aged Care)

(as a carer),

My grandparent has ulcers on both legs and is unable to walk very well and uses a wheelchair and walking frame. They have had 4 falls in the past and has been in the Wyalkatchem Hospital.

I feel the care was poor from a few staff, my grandparent was left in wet clothes which in my opinion is a poor standard. They also had bandages on their legs leaking through so much that the bed linen was covered in yellow liquid from their legs, so they slept in a wheelchair. I believe they asked the nurse to help them change and was abused, the common reply is that they are too busy. The dressings on their leg ulcers had a care plan done by the Northam Wound Clinic but while they were in hospital it changed every day. I feel that the nurses need to be consistent with their wound care management and need to have more communication with the wound care clinic.
