"Excellent Triage Nurse"

About: Maroondah Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a parent/guardian),

Attended the Emergency Department  (ED) with my child recently. A long wait in emergency (5 plus hours) but very pleased with Triage Nurse on duty - possibly named Czaer.

I felt he was very comforting to all in waiting room, checking on everyone over time, asking if anyone was cold, offering out blankets to those waiting. Informing people of their wait times without being asked from them and being addressed personally as if he had memorised each patient's name and condition that was in the waiting room.

I have been to ED many many times, in fact, a 6 hour wait the week prior with my spouse, and never had any Triage Nurse come out and interact with those who are waiting the way this Triage Nurse did. I have seen them come and take obs or hand out medication. But just in a routine and number-in-queue manner. This Triage Nurse was personal, energetic and clearly passionate and compassionate. We need more like him. He is an asset to your team.

Dear Ctscan

Thank you so much for taking the time to share comments on your positive experience when attending the Emergency Department at Maroondah Hospital thanks to the efforts of the triage nurse.

What a difference he has made to you and no doubt others who were waiting that day. Clearly he was living the Eastern Health values of Patients First, Kindness, Respect, Excellence, Agility and Humility. It will give me immense pleasure to share your feedabck with him, his manager and the team so all can recognise his efforts and their impact.

I hope both you child and spouse are now doing OK and back to all their normal activities!

Thanks again and kind regards

David
