"Eye appointed"

About: Royal Prince Alfred Hospital / Emergency Department Sydney / Sydney Eye Hospital

(as the patient),

I am so angry about the long waiting time in the Sydney Eye Center. My appointment was 2pm, waited for more than 2 hours and when I approached the Nurse she told me that there are still several patients in queue. Same when you go to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and emergency. Why do we have to wait for 3 hours when we have an appointment time?

Please note that I applied for appointment since March 2017, got the confirmation in the middle of May and lastly, today my long awaited schedule and I have to wait for another damn 3 hours before I can be checked for a first world eye center!

Thank you for expressing your feedback on Patient Opinion, we value your feedback and the insights you give us to our clinic. I am sorry the service did not meet your expectations on this occasion. The Eye outpatient clinic is a large clinic and provides specialist care for many patients each day. We endeavour to stagger the appointment times to reduce the waiting time. However, due to clinical needs, at times there is a longer wait for your appointment. We are currently in the planning phase of remodelling the clinics, waiting space and patient booking system in attempt to further address the issues you highlight.

Just a quick update to let you know that an interim solution of relocating certain clinics has been implemented, to address the issues you raised around overcrowding and waiting times in the Eye clinic.
