A month before I arrived at Shanty Creek I was hospitalised for three weeks. I don't remember going in to Hospital or the first week there. I wouldn't have been able to do any of it without my mum helping me. My brain was going funny. I was getting confused even when I hadn't been drinking. I could barely walk, wash myself, or do anything by myself, During my detox I had jaundice and was diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver. That was really scary and completely floored me, I was emotional and confused it felt surreal, whirlwind of doctors, specialists and that's where I met Kirsty from Lives Lived Well, and Rhonda from ATODS. Both really helped me while at the hospital, working out how to get me into a rehab. They were both a really big help to me by always being there and explaining everything gently and calmly in a really difficult time of being physically and emotionally vulnerable. Shortly after leaving Hospital I was helped by Kirsty to get up to Shanty Creek.
Moving into Shanty Creek was quite overwhelming, I felt really fragile and was unsure of everything, my anxiety was at an all time high. Going into a new place, in one of the most difficult times I've had, without having mum for support was really difficult.
