"Waiting for a bed"

My child has Cystic Fibrosis. My child recently became unwell and required hospital admission for treatment. We had to wait 16 days to get a bed. Then when my child was finally admitted, management put pressure on the Respiratory Team to get us out of the hospital.
They were willing to place my child on a medication that my child's own Consultant didn’t want them on, just to get us out by the weekend. This pressure got to me and the nurses supported me in staying. Over the weekend it seemed to me that they had lowered staff numbers and over the weekend there were always two rooms empty.
Health care is not 9-5. Cystic Fibrosis doesn’t take so much as a minute off, let alone a weekend. It seems to me that the hospital is being run like a business and not a 24/7 healthcare facility and I feel people could die from this. Something needs to be done ASAP to end this thinking and start running it 24/7 with full staff and full rooms when needed.
