"Impressed with the way I was treated at Ipswich Hospital."

About: Ipswich Hospital Princess Alexandra Hospital

(as the patient),

Recently had a day procedure at Ipswich hospital. I was extremely impressed with the way I was treated both pre and post operatively. Also with the gynea registrar that did my procedure was very professional. However there was a very noticeable staff shortage and I had heard it mentioned that they were at least half a dozen staff down that day and afternoon elective surgeries were having to be cancelled. I have recently had procedures done at the Princess Alexandra Hospital and I do feel that the level of professionalism by nurses and staff was a lot higher at the PA rather than Ipswich. However I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Ipswich for day procedures that are necessary. Another thing to note was the distance between the day surgery unit and the car park can be quite a walk and quite confusing to get to at 630am in the morning.

Response from Senior Consumer Liaison Officer, Clinical Governance, Queensland Health - West Moreton

Dear Day Procedure

It is wonderful to hear of your positive experience in our Day Surgery Unit. We are very proud of our staff and their commitment to providing excellent patient care. I will be sure to pass on your kind comments with a reminder about the importance of professional communication in the presence of patients.

We take your point about the walk between the main car park and the Day Surgery Unit. In order to provide patients and their families with easy access to different parts of the hospital, we have a free bus service that runs between a number of car parks and the two main entrances to the hospital. If you would like to more information about our bus service, you are welcome to contact the Consumer Liaison Service on 0409 275 503.

Thank you for taking to the time to provide your feedback and we wish you good health for the future.

Kind regards

Consumer Liaison Service
